Spin and Spice Restaurant
Interior Design Collaboration Project
As part of an Interior Design Collaboration at Vega, second and third-year students worked in teamswith a real client. Our task was to develop design solutions for a flagship store for a new South AfricanDöner-Kebab franchise along with a food truck that mimics the restaurants design style.
A Love for Africa
Spin and Spice presents a fusion of Turkish-German culinary traditions within a South African context,
prioritising healthiness without compromising authenticity. The design embodies an inviting ethos,
seamlessly blending contemporary aesthetics with textured nuances inspired by the three culture’s
design sensibilities. The strategic use of vibrant pops of yellow, diverse materials, and intricate patterns
adds interest within the space. Local influences, such as African-inspired patterns and South African
artistry, infuse vibrancy into the ambiance. The franchise's name, Spin and Spice, influences dynamic
curvaceous patterns, embodying motion throughout the space. Wood, selected as a luxury element,
aligns with the emphasis on natural materials, offering patrons a premium experience. The space
serves as a canvas cultivating sensations of hunger, joy, and community.
